Pakistan floods appeal
The International Rescue Committee is on the ground providing aid to victims of the worst flooding in Pakistan's modern history. At least 1,400 people have been killed and14 million people have been affected by the devastating monsoon rains.

Pakistan is facing a growing humanitarian crisis as worsening floods are affecting even more people than the Boxing Day Tsunami and Haiti earthquake combined. Millions of children have lost their homes and have no food or clean water. More and more of these children are at risk of contracting deadly waterborne diseases like dysentery, diarrhoea and cholera.
UNICEF is working on the ground to ensure that life-saving aid is getting through. This includes safe drinking water, medical supplies and vaccinations for children against measles and polio.
Every day the situation for children becomes increasingly critical. UNICEFis desperately appealing for funds to help cover the escalating needs of children affected.

Around 14 million people have been affected and around 900,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, which has branches and volunteers across the country, has been helping survivors since the flooding began by delivering food, health services, shelter and relief items (including hygiene kits and cooking equipment).
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has reachedaround 300,000 people since the floods hit and in the comingmonths plans to distribute relief items to around 2.1 million people.

- Boats that were purchased are currently being used to evacuate stranded people, taking them to safe land. Upto 8,000 people are being rescued on a daily basis
- 20,000 litres of clean, drinakable water distributed daily by tankers in charsadda
- 9,000 litres of clean, drinkable water distributed daily by tankers in Muzaffargarh, with the aim to reach 180, 000 people in Muzaffargarh
